MetaClean

Remove hidden metadata from your images.

Photos carry more than what you see — capture location, device details, timestamps, and editing history are often stored inside the file itself. Upload an image, MetaClean strips it clean, and you download the result.

Drag and drop an image, or

JPG · PNG · WEBP

Up to 25.0 MB

Your file is sent over an encrypted connection, processed, and removed from the server afterward. See the privacy page for details.

More on how processing works

What MetaClean does

Image metadata cleaning

Removes EXIF, IPTC, XMP, and embedded GPS data from JPG, PNG, and WEBP files.

Adjustable output quality

Keep the original resolution, or shrink to 1080p/720p as part of the cleaning step.

No account required

There's no sign-up, login, or password. Upload, clean, and download.

Clear processing status

You always know which stage you're in — selected, processing, done, or an explained error.

Files are not kept

Uploaded and processed files exist only for the duration of the request; see the privacy page for specifics.

Works on any device

The uploader and every page are built to work on phones, tablets, and desktops alike.

Why metadata matters

A photo taken on a phone can embed the exact GPS coordinates of where it was shot, the device model, the date and time, and editing software history. None of that is visible when you look at the file, but it travels with it when you share it.

What happens to your file

  • Uploads are processed in memory or in short-lived temporary storage.
  • Files are not stored permanently and are not reviewed by anyone.
  • The cleaned file is returned directly to your browser to download.
  • MetaClean does not require or collect an account, name, or email address.
